West Coast Swing is a linear partner dance, generally danced in open hold, characterised by its compression-extension connection and elasticity. It is danced to a wide variety of modern and older style music, with 6- and 8-beat patterns, giving an opportunity to both partners to improvise whilst still allowing for leader/follower expression
